Concord, NH – The New Hampshire Attorney General's Office has released autopsy findings following the suspicious deaths of a woman and her young son in Pembroke early Friday morning.
According to Attorney General John M. Formella, State Police Colonel Mark B. Hall, and Pembroke Police Chief Gary R. Gaskell, officers responded to a 911 call at approximately 1:00 a.m. on May 9, 2025, at a residence located at 336 Pembroke Hill Road. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the resident who made the call and discovered two individuals—Julia Byrne, 26, and her 3-year-old son, Blake Byrne—suffering from apparent gunshot wounds in an upstairs bedroom.
A witness at the scene reported hearing two gunshots before finding the victims.
Blake Byrne was transported to Concord Hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Julia Byrne was declared deceased at the scene.
Autopsies conducted today by Assistant Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Abigail Alexander confirmed both victims died from single gunshot wounds to the head. The manner of death for Julia Byrne remains pending, while Blake Byrne's death has been ruled a homicide.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident as a potential murder-suicide. No additional information is expected to be released at this time.
